Arrival and Breakfast
All students are entitled to eat breakfast, and breakfast takes place from 8 am to 8:30 am each day. Kindergarten students will report directly to their assigned class in the morning to eat breakfast. They will utilize Entrances 5 and 6 to gain access. Students in Grades 1 through 5 will enter through the back doors by the schoolyard and meet their teachers in the cafeteria.
Any students that arrive after 8:10 am must use the main entrance and will be designated as being late.
Dismissal
Students will be dismissed from the morning portion into the cafeteria to take part in the SQPA camp portion of the day. Please note that students will only take part in the SQPA camp portion of the day from 12 pm to 6 pm if they have successfully submitted all registration documents for SQPA. If you have not submitted the registration documents and you would like to register for SQPA afternoon session of Summer Rising can drop off and sign paperwork July 2nd - July 5th from 9:30am - 12:30pm. If you do not submit the registration documents, your child MUST BE picked up at 12 pm. Please see email for registration documents.
Dismissal from SQPA program is as follows:
- Grades K and 1 are dismissed in the auditorium.
- Grades 2 through 5 are dismissed to the schoolyard.
- Dismissal begins at 5:15 pm daily.
Attendance
Please be advised that attendance is vital for your child’s success in Summer Rising, especially if they are MANDATED. Mandated students have up to TWO (2) absences. Any additional absences will result in your child possibly being retained in the current grade. Students who are not mandated risk losing their seats in SQPA should they have over FIVE (5) absences.

All communication will be done via email. Additionally, information for both the academic portion and camp portion will be posted on PS 354Q website at www.ps354q.org under Summer Rising Tab. This page will be updated weekly on Thursday afternoons.

Curriculum
- Literacy: My View by Savaas
- Math: Envisions
- Social Emotional Learning: Yoga and Mindfulness
- Students will also engage in small group instruction and STEM activities.
- The theme for camp this year is College Readiness with a focus on HBCUs.
Attire
Students are given a camp shirt and this shirt is to be worn on camp days and SQPA event days ONLY. Ensure that your student is wearing breathable material and skirts and shorts are appropriate in length.
