What does STEM look like at PS 354Q?

 

Here at PS 354Q, our students engage in the following during their STEM courses:

  • hands-on real world experiences
  • multi-step problem- and project-based learning (ProBL)
  • student-led and collaborative discussions with peers
  • reflection and connection

So, at PS 354Q, STEM is defined as collaborative, reflective, and hands-on learning through ProBL that promotes conceptual and practical understanding of real world situations.

STEM MAJORS

In the 2023/2024 school year, we implemented STEM Majors at our school. In the 2025/2026 school year, the majors have expanded to include Art-based disciplines. The majors are offered to our Grade 4 and 5 students, where they study on of the following Majors: 

  • Electricity
  • Coding
  • Fashion Design
  • Engineering
  • Art
  • Dance

STEM Majors Showcases are held twice a year, with one in January and the other in June. Families are invited to these events to engage in learning with their children.
