STEM INSTITUTE OF QUEENS

 

PS 354Q - The Jermaine L. Green STEM Institute of Queens is an elementary school located in the heart of Rochdale Village in District 28 serving students from 3K to Grade 5. The school was originally founded as a K to 2 school by Jermaine L. Green in  2011. Mr. Green had a vision for students to become strong readers, writers, and thinkers as well as to be technologically savvy and sound. Since then, PS 354Q has grown to include students from 3K through Grade 5. Since his passing in 2013, PS 354Q have been committed to continuing  Mr. Green’s vision by providing students with opportunities to engage in critical thinking through science, technology, engineering, arts and math.  Additionally, students utilize these skills to amplify their voices and become leaders for their time. 

Our students engage in a rigorous, challenging and supportive curriculum that encompasses targeted supports for groups of students as well as individual students. We provide an inclusive environment where students engage in both micro-classes and macro-classes as they grow within our school. We offer opportunities for students to become self-sufficient and independent thinkers through collaborative discussions, cross-curricular activities and STEM activities. Students have the opportunity to major in one of our four STEM majors in the upper grades. Our school offers dual language classes, where student become biliterate and bilingual in both Spanish and English. Our students partner with community organizations to attain skills applicable to the current society in which they live.  

Our community consists of dedicated, dynamic, creative, and experienced educators and staff from all walks of life. Our staff makes it their mission to ensure that our students are reaching their full potential through collaboration, data analysis, and inquiry work. Our diverse staff speak many languages including Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Bangla.     HAPPY SUNDAY! HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!
    We made it! We are embarking on the last week of school! As we close the 2025/2026 school year, the PS 354Q Administration and Staff want to thank you all for your partnership and support this past year! Coming to an event or a parent workshop or event corresponding via a dojo message meant a lot. It all means partnership!

    iReady Reading went from 27% on or above grade level to 64% on or above grade level
    iReady Math went from 7% on or above grade level to 52% on or above grade level
    Acadience Math went from 35% on or above grade level to 60% on or above grade level
    Acadience K to 2 Reading went from 53.3% on or above grade level to 56.6% on or above grade level

    Last week, we moved up our 3K, PreK, and Grade K students as well as celebrated our Grades 1 to 5 students through Awards Ceremonies! Congratulations to all of our Busy and Brilliant Bees! Thank you to all of the families that came to support our kids! Thank you to all of the parents that came to our First Annual Neurodiversity Night!

    Please remember that Summer Rising takes place at PS 80
    All Grade 3 to 5 students that are MANDATED to go to Summer Rising should have been notified via mail and email.

    Check out our school website at www.ps354q.org for information over the summer regarding uniform purchase, school supplies purchase, registration and more. Class placement letters will be emailed over the summer. Dates are in the June Newsletter.

Register Today for Grades 3K to 5

As part of New York City Public Schools’ (NYCPS) registration process, every family is REQUIRED to bring the following documents with you to registration: 

Birth Certificate/Passport
Up-to-date Immunization report
2 proofs of home address
 
If your child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), please bring the most recent and up to date IEP with you for accurate placement. 
If you are registering a child in grades 1 to 5, you must have the child's report card from previous school year .  

 

Please have the registration documents with you when you come to complete registration.
