GETTING READY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL

2025-2026 Middle School Admissions Dates:

  • October 15: Middle School application opens!
  • November 3: Deadline to register to test for Mark Twain I.S. 239 and District 21 Talent Tests.
  • December 12: Middle School application closes.
  • April 15: Middle School Offers released

You can do the following at any time:

  • Use the searchable middle school directory at MySchools.nyc to explore school options.
  • Check schools’ websites: find resources and learn if schools will be hosting any virtual events.
  • Learn about admissions, watch our video series, and get all the latest updates at schools.nyc.gov/Middle.
  • Find your school district (1-32) and learn if your child has a zoned school or schools by entering your address at schools.nyc.gov/Find-a-School or calling 311.
  •  You can get personalized support on- or offline, including by phone—see below.

To support our Grade 5 Families, we have created a resource containing information of many Middle school around the city in English, Spanish and Bangla. We hope that you enjoy and find it useful. The list includes citywide, charters, and independent middle schools in NYC as well.

 

Please know that this list is not exhaustive and that there are other schools that you can research for your Jaguar Elite.

    HELLO SUNDAY!
    This past week two senseless acts happened, with one of them being very close to home. Jaden Pierre was a 15 year old and was part of the South Jamaica quilt. He was a son, a friend, a family member, and most importantly a kid. Please love on your children and keep them as close to you as possible. Show them right from wrong and empathy. Show them how not to follow the crowd and to stand up for others so that murders and tragedies such as this stop happening.

    NYS ELA Day 1 Exam for Grades 3 to 5 - Exam begins at 8:15 am

    NYS ELA Day 2 Exam for Grades 3 to 5 - Exam begins at 8:15 am
    Grade K Trip
    Please be advised that the school will be operating on a Thursday schedule. What ever special your child normally has on Thursdays, will take place on this day..
