GETTING READY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL

2025-2026 Middle School Admissions Dates:

  • October 15: Middle School application opens!
  • November 3: Deadline to register to test for Mark Twain I.S. 239 and District 21 Talent Tests.
  • December 12: Middle School application closes.
  • April 15: Middle School Offers released

You can do the following at any time:

  • Use the searchable middle school directory at MySchools.nyc to explore school options.
  • Check schools’ websites: find resources and learn if schools will be hosting any virtual events.
  • Learn about admissions, watch our video series, and get all the latest updates at schools.nyc.gov/Middle.
  • Find your school district (1-32) and learn if your child has a zoned school or schools by entering your address at schools.nyc.gov/Find-a-School or calling 311.
  •  You can get personalized support on- or offline, including by phone—see below.

To support our Grade 5 Families, we have created a resource containing information of many Middle school around the city in English, Spanish and Bangla. We hope that you enjoy and find it useful. The list includes citywide, charters, and independent middle schools in NYC as well.

 

Please know that this list is not exhaustive and that there are other schools that you can research for your Jaguar Elite.

    HAPPY LAST SUNDAY OF OCTOBER!
    Thank you to all of the families that sent their children in pink on Friday and participated in the annual SQPA Breast Cancer Walk! This week we announce the Student Government for the 25/26 School year!

    MONDAY, OCTOBER 27TH
    K to 5 Fall Festival - Please have students dress in Fall colors. Families are welcomed to come and support students. See schedule below.

    Parent Workshop for K to 2 Families at 8:15 am
    Topic: Foundational Literacy and Math Skills
    Grade 2 Swim For Life First Session - Participating students' families already notified
    AttenDANCE Celebration for students with 100% attendance
    Shoutout to the over 170 students with perfect attendance so far this year

    THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30TH
    Word Parade Day - Have students dress up as a particular word. Ask your child's teacher or AP Davis for more information
    Parade will take place in the schoolyard, weather permitting, at 9 am.

    FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31ST
    End of Marking Period 1
    Grade 4 Trip
    Awareness Friday - Select any of the Awareness topics and dress your child in that color
    Breast Cancer- Wear Pink
    Domestic Violence - Wear Purple
    Down Syndrome - Wear Blue and Yellow

    Half Day for Parent Teacher Conferences
    School Dismissed at 11:20 am - All students must be picked up at 11:20 am

    Evening Session: 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
